Default A4 Downshift problems

Im tuning an 01 TA, A4 H/C, built trans 12 bolt etc. Well Got everything dialed in, but the trans will not downshift. You can put it in overdrive running 55mph then floor it, & it will stay in OD. The only way to get it to down shif is to manualy pull it down. The car shifts fine under part thorttle, & WOT. just want downshift under WOT. Ive changed everything I could with HPtuners to get it to down shif & it will not. Am I missing something here?

Did you try reloading the default/stock settings for the trans from your stock file and then adjusting for gears if need be?

I would try putting it back to stock, just as he said. And check the fluid.

Well. Ive copyed & pasted all the stock values from a stock tune to the tune Im working on & still nothing. The car had already had tunning done to it before so I never had the stock tune to start with.

What tuning software are you using? Does it have a compare feature? With EFI Live, you can download a stock tune from the EFI Live or HPTuners repository and view it/save it. Then, if it's the same OS you can use the compare feature and copy the entire Transmission Calibration and Diagnostic segment in EFI Live. That way you don't have to copy individual tables. Don't know if HPT has that same feature.

Im using HPtuners. Im not sure if there is a compare feature or not. There isnt that many charts that had to be copyed anyways.

Yeah I seen that after I posted.

What are all the downshift tables zero'd out for? Ive looked at 4 tunes & they have all be 0's. Whats up with that are they not used? Im talking about under shift properties/Downshift they are all blank.

Shouldn't be...I don't have any 0's in my shift tables. A few 256's, but no 0's.

Those are pressure modifier tables based on trans temp (ie if the trans is shifting too hard cold or not hard enough hot, you modify those tables). I thought you were talking about MPH tables. Those pressure tables are supposed to be 0'd out stock.

Look under "4>3 Throttle Kickdown". It's based on TPS and MPH. Try changing the values to 85% or so for all mph. That should help. If not if could be the solenoid, but generall that will throw a code.

What table is that? I dont see anything like that.

This is the third time I've got some use out of this screenshot.

These values aren't from an F-body, but it shows what you need to modify. The 1->2 shift is an upshift, the 2->1 is a downshift. Make sure none of those conflict with each other.

Good screen shot....just make sure you're adjusting "normal" shifts with "normal" shifts - not "normal" with "hot."

Thanks! Yeah I thought that was the tables being talked about. Ive changed those numerous times with the stock #'s in place & with me modifying them & still nothing. Thats why im begining to think the trans is screwed.
