Speed density tune????
Speed density tune???? I want to be able to run more than one boost setting on my set up. I have done research and it seems that SD tune would be the way to go. What do I need to run an SD tune?? How hard is it to maintain the tune? How much more does it cost over the normal dynotune? How will it do on my daily driver??
I believe from what i've gathered you need to ditch your MAF and replace your MAP with a 2 bar or 3 bar MAP. 2 bar is boost levels from 1-15 psi i believe and 3 bar is 1-30 PSI. i may be wrong on these numbers but am pretty sure all you need to do is ditch the MAF and swap your stock 1 bar MAP for a 2 bar or 3 bar MAP. The MAP is located on the back of the intake manifold FYI

You shouldn't have to constantly tune your car unless you're looking to get every last millisecond out of the car.
What would I need to get my sd tune started? Do you remove the maf completely or do I just unplug it?? Do I remove any other sensor besides the maf? Where can I get the 3 bar map sensor?

The other questions I do not know...you could probably leave the maf if you wanted but you'd prolly make a few buck by selling it and then it would be out of the way and not an eyesore.
Im running a 2 bar setup with HPT custom OS.
I used the 2 bar map from a GM. Just had to cut off a mounting tab on the sensor and it was plug and play.

I had to build my VE table from scratch. Actually its still being built. I wouldnt say its easy at all.
Ok so if I purchase a 3 Bar MAP... and I purchase the basic licence of HP Tuners (8 Credits right?) then I can tune my car with a 2 bar or 3 bar if I choose? How difficult is it truly to tune your own car? If its easy why isnt everyone doing it? Is there somewhere good to learn more about tuning a Speed Density tune?
For those of us who really dont know... can someone do a detailed explanition of why a SD tune is so much more valuble than the standard MAF tune for us FI guys?

The PN I listed has been the PN thats been used for sometime when going two bar with the GM PCM on a LS1 F body. I've been running it in the car since feb.
