Default What is causing my car to stall sometimes

When I first start to drive my car it will sometimes sputter and die out after about 200 ft. Then I can start the car and it will drive fine again. What could cause this? bad tune? I have HP tuner myself but I don't know much about tuning and what to tune to fix that problem.

Our local tuner has been busy I guess because I don't get reply from him. I'll have to learn the program myself.

Any help with what could be the problem will be awesome. Thanks

Need a little more detail...possibly a log to show this happening. Is it when you get moving and then let off of the gas? It could be a lot of things. Try capturing MAF, MAP, RPM, Spark, IAC, ECT, MPH, Fuel trims, etc. in a log. Then post it up. I'm sure someone can take a look at it with ya.

i have the same exact problem. It does not like to idle on startup, and if you get it idling fine and you say.... back out of a parking spot it will stall out, or if you move forward and then stop at an intersection it will just die unless you keep it alive. its a real PITA , i'm working on getting a license for my friends hp tuners software so i can take a look at this myself . I just had the car tuned and i'm told "thats just the way it is" because of my cam. Meanwhile my friends ls1 has a mondo cam and is pushing 475 wheel and idles perfectly fine. Let me know what you find cause its sure got me puzzled

Log your idle trims over a whole warm up in drive. It will show you how much your idle airflow tables are off. Also increasing your spark advance below idle rpm will help keep the rpms from dropping lower than they should. I made a post about that a while ago. Also what is your idle rpm set at?

At warm up it's fine, probably because it's trying to warm up. It generally happens when I drive the car and park it for a while then get back in to go then it will sputter and die. I can start it back up again and will work fine and not do it again. I think the Idle RPM is set at 1100 or 1200.

Probably because I tuned your car when it had some problems and now that it is fixed the tune is off or vise versa. But I am just going to stay out of the middle of that one.

So it's just on hot starts? You should still do the warmup thing to see if your idle trims are near zero. You might also want to look at "friction airflow initial" and the associated delay and decay tables.
