98 MAF on 01 LS1

98 MAF on 01 LS1 I'm not sure if here is the right forum, but I want to ask if there is any problem couse I installed a 98' MAF on my 01. I have seen 01-02 Ls1 have diferent part numbers.

The only problem I can see is the 98 MAF did not have the IAT sensor combined into it (it was in the Airlid). So if I read you correctly your car is not getting the Inlet Air Temp (IAT) readings it should. I am suprised you don't have a check engine light? Note the arrow in the picture is pointing to the IAT on the 99+up MAF that is still connected to the airlid. The 98 is on the left, note no sensor. The IAT is there for a reason dude, things get hot, it tells the pcm to pull timing so you are not buying a new motor prematurely. Note, I could be another internet bandit posting utter nonsense so please feel free to verify what I am telling you. This was not a paid political advertisement authorized by me.

All GM factory F-body MAFs are the same. Same GM part #. No stock LS1 F-body MAF ever had the integral IAT sensor. All LS1 F-body IAT sensors are in the lid. SLP for some reason sold a different 85mm MAF for the 01-02s.

My doubt comes when I read this on a post named "01-02 Specific Engine Changes":
"MAF SENSOR
The LS1 benefits from other improvements developed primarily for the LS6, including Delphi's high-volume version 1.2 Mass Air Flow sensor, with integral inlet air temperature sensor. This MAF sensor increases intake volume and allows the Powertrain Control Module to adjust for optimal performance at a given air temperature"

That statement is true but it applies to 01-02 LS1 Corvettes, NOT F-bodies. All the F-bodies use the same 3 terminal MAF sensor.
