U1000 trouble codes? Anybody know about them
On the hptuners scanner it picks up 3 DTC codes:
U1000
U1016
U1096
They all 3 have to do with loss of communications with VCM. I have never really seen these before. The only thing that pops in my head is that I removed the a/c system from the car, but not sure it would trigger these codes. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, these things do not set off the SES light.

The latest hp release allows viewing body codes as well as powertrain. If your scanner is connected to the obd port, you will repeatedly show that code because your comm is interfering with the bcm communicating to the pcm. You could also show other bcm codes related to the computers being used in mutiple platforms with varying option packages. The short version is that there is no need for alarm.

U1000 class 2 data link malfuction
U1016 no communication to PCM/VCM
U1096 Communication failure code multiple module
The communication network is having a problem communicating either a module is at fault or its a wiring issue. They are not an easy thing to chase sometimes.
They do not set the SES light because the PCM is likely not the module reporting those codes. The SES is reserved for "emissions failures" in GM engineers minds.
Doubt removing the A/C has anything to do with it.

wrencher, those are the codes as seen on hptuners scanner.
It is strange that I never saw them before when using hptuners. Wonder what they changed to make that happen?
Anyway, sounds like there is no reason for worry then?

They are accessing the LAN & getting the codes, multiple modules record codes.
If you have an issue w/ something not working then I would worry, like body controll fuctions or ABS/TCS fuction then I would dig into them.
The 16 PIN data link connector is not solely for the PCM.
Like I said the PCM is likely not reporting those codes.
