Does anyone have this version of the programmer and can verify all of this functionality is available in the handheld?

Why would you want those features? They are way too generic if you ask me. A lot of different things can be happening between 4,000 and 7,000 rpms (ie peak torque vs. peak hp). And with the way pricing has been heading these days, handhelds are within $100~$200 the cost of an all-out, ***-kicking piece of tuning software like EFI Live (cough shameless plug cough). Yes there are others too (like HPTuners and LS1 Edit), but it's up to you to decide which is best for you when it comes time to drop the coin. But, I can guaruntee the software route is going to be a much wiser choice over the handhelds in the search for tuning devices.

The main reason I ask is that I have an older version of the Predator which they will upgrade for free with proof of purchase.

I'm just trying to determine if all of this functionality is truely brought out at the user interface or if this is "custom tune" capability.

Where do you find the upgrade-old-unit info? I'm not
seeing it on their site anywhere.

Yes. Mine is currently on 2.10, and has all those features. In addition, these units now automatically unlock themselves when you restore your stock tune.
Now its no longer useless if you get rid of your car or truck.
On the subject of generic tunes, these params. can only be adjusted so far, so as to keep the end users out of trouble. If you need more than the pred. can support, there are lots of shops that have Diablos CMR software and can build you a custom tune no prob. If your tuning needs are more in-depth, and you know what your doing, than the various Tuning Software available is great.
Upgrade that predator and enjoy!

All you have to do to get upgraded is call them and they will issue an RMA.

If you have original proof of purchase the upgrade is free. If you don't have proof of purchase the upgrade is $99.

You have to return your car to stock tune before sending back the unit or you will lose your original tune info. Along with the software upgrade they also apply a hardware upgrade.

The guy at Diablo (Mike) was great to work with on this return by the way.

Being able to turn off the codes for !EGR and !AIR without having to pay a shop to do it is motivation alone for this upgrade!

I need to get mine updated too, V1.03, one of the first units and have a RWTD custom tune. Been putting it off cause I don't want to run around on the stock tune for too long - any info on how long it takes? Phone #?

Got another question. Idle (+500RPM/-300RPM) is the "in gear" idle, not park/neutral correct?

From the time it gets there, youll get it back in like 7-10 days, unless you want to pay for upgraded shipping.

You know, I dont remember how its setup, should go look in the car but Im lazy. In all honesty though, I'm 99% sure you can not only set the neutral and in gear idle rpms, but you can also set them with the A/C on for increased idle rpm with those big cams.
So you actually get 4 idle parameters:
A/C off neutral
A/C on neutral
A/C off drive
A/C on drive

Like I said, its an awesome FREE software upgrade.

If one sends back their unit should we put our cars back to stock tune and wait for the new upgrade?

Well, one thing to consider (which is almost always ignored in this debate) is that used handhelds sell rather often at less than half of new price.

No doubt tuning software is far better but the cost isn't always just a 100-200 different.

Sprayjunkie

I have the old bios version GM04 1.11 and now LTFT's are postive +2.33 (put on a CAI with cone filter) from -1.5 to 0 that they were prior to the cone.

O2's have kicked down also to 870-880 range @ WOT from 900-915

There is a RWTD tune in there now for the pre-CAI setup.

Will the upgrade allow me enough to change the existing RWTD tune to take care of this (with in reason of course) (as long as it is uploaded in the predator) or do the changes input just affect the stock Diablo performance tune?

Thanks

Steve

Forgot to put in (before someone yells at me) - we had the car dynoed before the cone and we were at 12.9 - 13 A/F across the board. So I do have at least a decent baseline.

Hey Steve, sorry I havent seen this thread in a couple days. Your Predator definitely needs an upgrade as well.
Yours is actually a different model than we've been discussing here, a U7193 as oppored to our U7198's. The latest revision on that tool is 2.04.
To answer your question, yes. You can add fuel to adjust your LTFT's. Take it easy on that Goat while the stock tune is in it.
Give us a call, 561-908-0040, ask for Mike.
