She totaled my 04 Silveado tonite. Before they tow it away can I pull the PCM from the 04 and use it in my 99 Silverado? I'm wondering if the pinout is the same and the whether the connectors are interchangeable? I know the OS is different on the 04. This would be an 04 5.3 liter w/auto trans. PCM going into a 99 4.8 liter w/manual trans.

No, 04 uses a 1 meg pcm and 99 is a 512K flash chip. The connectors are different too.

What if you replaced the engine harness with a 04 and used a service manual to interconnect it to the body harness to get your tach, speedo, ect working? Anyone tried it?

Why? A new pcm is $75 2nd hand.
Pull it and sell it off anyway, or swap for a 512kb one. Save yourself hours of hassle.
