Airflow tables need to be corrected I'd say. If the desired airflow table is too high you'll get a hanging RPM, too low and it will dip and almost stall.

Each tuning software may have their little tricks. Basically what you are looking to do if set the values in the base airflow (or whatever the table is call in your tool) to be the amount of air that the car is actually using at the various ECT temps.

The process usually requires you to log a PID which shows airflow in Grams/s (or whatever units you use) from cold start to full operating temp while stationary.

Makes a good difference though

Great explanation, now I am starting to understand.
So what your saying is I need to find out exacty what the car is flowing exactly.
Example from one of my logs =at 68 fairinheit the car 12.41 g/sec, but on the Base Runnnig Airflow (idle airflow vs Ect) at 68 degrees it was calling for 15.07

surging is overfuling. if you're suging, decrease respective VE values, until it idles smoothly.
remember that if you have a cam with overlap, your readings at idle are going to be very lean, yet you're going to be completely overfueling, so you cannot always go by the wideband.

that is one thing ive learned. its a PITA. I have a similar issue as you. When coming to a stop and taking the car out of gear, sometimes my idle dips down to 200 and then comes back up to idle, but then that isnt 100% stable either.

Do you have a tuner?

I kind of got mine to settle down a little. I had the IAC maxed out. I bought a new throttle body that was pre adusted wrong.

In my experience, I have had good succes setting IAC counts to about 60, getting the Desired airflow accurate, and then if you are still surging, try raising the throttle cracker enable/disable speeds as well as lowering the throttle cracker table, if the values in that table are too high, the pcm will fight to try to get the rpms down to the desired level. I like to set the enable speed to 10 mph and disable to 9 just to try to see if that helps.

I was thinking about doing the same thing!
I logged my injector pulsewidth last night and notice that right before the car switches over into the mode where the car is under 3mph, the IPW goes to 5.9-6-9 etc.. under no load, so I think its is loading up. If this is the case how do I correct it.
