Default Accel Gen 6

Hey does anybody have any links on this system or any advice. I just bought it and don't know squat

How does this system compare to a gen 7???

Is there any little add ons that I will need to make the most of the system?

This is going on an SR LT1 with 2 stages of nitrous.

I haven't used 7 butfrom what I understand they are worlds apart. As in 6 sucks. I'd try and sell it and get something else.

Hmm, I am using it becuse my stock LT1 pcm can't think over 7k and I am wanting to spin 85-9000ish. I still have the stock PCm and all that programming software to control the trans and such.

What don't you like about it??

Do you have the fuel adjustment **** thingie??

What problems if any are you having.

I am basically looking to just control the spark and fuel with it, maybe the nitrous if its capabile.

Can you switch between differnt fuel table for running a big dry shot ect..

Can you upgrade to Gen 7 with a simple ECU swap or does it take all new componets?

Thanks for your input.

Gen 6 is DOS based software. PITA to use. It works ok, but I dont think its sequential. Just batch fire. Compared to gen 7, there is no comparison. Not sure if you can switch over to the other ECM that easy. They do use all the same components, I would think at the most you would have to rewire the ECM connectors. And you'll need both a cam and crank trigger for sequential. But like I said, I'm not sure if gen 6 can be set up for that or not.
gen 6 set up....

Thnaks for the info guys! Is there a download of the software somewhere that I can play with?

I'm not running a very complicated set-up so hopefully it will suffice.

Good luck with it. Gen 6 stuff is junk. I had it on my IROC years ago and had so many problems with it. I just converted a customer Gen 6 TPI truck back over to factory because he was having too many problems also.

The injector drivers just would frequently stop working. Just driving down the road...car would shut of without any warning....just dead. Also, no matter what I tried I could not nail down a tune on it either. I tune with a wideband and the same tune would change day to day....it was wierd. The customer's truck I just converted would do the same thing.....it was always a fueling issue with the gen 6.

I'm having cold start problems and idle quality issues. The map table doesn't have much resolution so if you need to use it above 7k you may lose even more res and have trouble with fueling. I think the bottom line is it works but not too well and really aint worth the trouble. Its batch fire, no seq. option

You will find the instructions there, in PDF form.
Good luck! The 1st/last Gen 6 I tried to use, got thrown in the trash can, and a FAST was installed in it's place. Never looked back!

Glad to hear that . I got mine for like $800 for the pcm + harness back in '99

I think the 6 has a nitrous feature that gives you a map for timing and I think it might have a fuel map for n20 so that you can spray a dry shot

The biggest issue for your app is the lack of sequential firing.
LT1s=sequential, from 94 up. The very first ones were still batch fire.

Have a Gen VI fuel/spark controller for sale, really helps tune because you can turn either **** +/- on the fly to quickly indicate which direction you need to change your mapping. $50, private me if interested.

I think Gen VIs are getting a bad rap, installed near fifty of them prior to the Gen VII, most still going strong. Must use high impedence injectors with Gen VI.
