why does timing retard

after doing some logging of Map and RPM, IGN Adv, I noticed that as MAP (low pressure) dropped that ignition would retard very low 4.5 etc sometimes at the closing of the throttle.
Is that normal?

You shouldnt have knock retard at all. You might need to add fuel in some areas.

not knock retard. Just the timing drops when you get off of the gas

i had the same prob with my LS1, i had 4* of KR, this was due to a knock sensor error- i mustve bumped a wire or something when i changed to a LS6 intake. so i went into hptuners and changed my max KR to 0* in certain areas so i dont have KR anymore! as long as u run 93 octane you should be ok

DFCO not only cuts fuel, but also retards timing when you are off the throttle.
