98 PCM question

I have a 98 formula and was considering a h/c combo. Do I need to upgrade the PCM to a 01/02 to be able to better tune the car and if so where do you get one.

You know its not as simple as just swapping out computers correct?

For tuning for a H/C car your 98 will be fine.

And remember that most folks that use EFILive have an unlimited license on the 97/98 stream so you should be able to find someone that can help pretty easily.

You can't do custom OSs but for a NA H/C car you shouldn't need one.

Like pk says, you should be fine for a H/C car. To change to a 99+ system requires a gastank change, dash cluster and quite a few pins that need to be changed. Not worth the BS for what you are doing!

And now that Craig Moates has the RRer available for the 97/98 pcm there is even one less reason to change.

Not to sound like a total jackass but IMHO, the benefits of EFI Live's Custom Operating systems, and RTACS which are not currently availible to 98 users are a "worthwhile" reason to goto the "trouble" to upgrade a 97-98 vehicle.'

*Note the following statement has to be taken in consideration that the poster has taken mere McDonald Douglas/Boeing F/A-18's and "upgraded" them to be used by the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron. They were perfectly good grey jets before...What do you want to drive?
