Default flashing ses, p0300, and p0305...car drives fine

i keep gettin the flashing ses and codes but the car runs perfectly. plenty of power, no sputtering or hesitating...it's just annoying. it usually happens in 6th gear, 55-70 mph..around 1200-1400 rpms. any ideas on where to start on this one? checked the valve springs, plugs are new, ....i'm lost. please help

I just got p0300 code today, my only guess as I changed my plugs and wire, fuel filter and seafoamed the car about 10k miles ago is that my fuel pump is going out. Getting it checked soon. Its doing the samething though, flashes, then stays on. Sometimes it even turns back off. The car runs just fine too, so IDK...

How big of a cam? Stock? If so then you have real misfire issues. If its a big cam, you may need to tweak the misfire tables.

it's stock. i just don't see how i can have such a severe misfire and the car still runs perfectly. i did notice that the tips are turnin black between washes and now my low oil light just came on...so i'm burnin some oil....just don't know...the 383 is lookin better all the time.

Well mine is running rich from what I can tell now. Sputers a lot gurggles and back fires like a car does when its rich, plus it eating up a lot of gas. I also noticed that my ses light does start flashing in 6th gear, themn whe I put it back in 5th it stos flashing.

So i think i might have an air problem. im running a descreened SLP maf so im putting the stocker back in and hoping that cures it!

yeh, mine does that too!! sounds like whatever our problem is, we're having the same one. that would be a better explaination of the blackened exhaust tips...my gas mileage hasn't suffered too much from what i can tell though. but it does pop and crack when i let off the gas after gettin on it....let me know if the MAF fixes things. i did notice the other day that i had some oil up at the intakte manifold neck. so mine is looking more like an intake valve issue...not sure though.

Thanks, I just went outside to check the MAF sensor and it looks fine too me. Still has all the the little wires in there place. I did however noticed what you said, a lot of oil in the intake. I had a puddle of burnt oil in my bellow, with spladders all around...\

Taking it to the shop as soon as I get a chance!

update: i took it to a dealership here...they hooked it up and noticed that 4 and 5 injectors are hanging wide open. this explains the rich condistion, the burning out of my cats, the backfiring, the black tips, and the drop in fuel economy. they also did their fuel system service and haven't been able to get the light back on. so we'll know something probably tomorrow. i'm glad you brought up the oil thing in the intake, i'll ask about that tomorrow. but that's where mine stands. any news with your's?

it just gets better and better. keep an eye on the oil in the intake...it leads to bad things. the injectors didn't fix it. turns out, the rings on cylinder 5 are gone. that explains the oil consumption, and all that mess...so now the bill is up to 1600 bucks...i was on the verge of droppin in the ls6, but i'm gonna wait. let's just hope this gets her on the road again.
