Default 160lb injectors

Anyone nutty enough yet to try 160 pounders with an imp. box on the stock PCM? Just curious.

I'm nutty enough and plan to try...but haven't gotten that far yet...

Since I am building a racecar, idle quality is not a factor for me (can have a pretty high idle speed if need be)

depends on the CI too.. i've got a 427, so that should help with idle a little.. a 346 i can see flooding out potentially.

I'm gonna be a relatively small 366 cid. I believe Harlan ran them with his "stock" pcm with his 348 setup back in the day...

hehe, biggest so far 96s for me. Honestly for 160s and the power level for them, it seems like one would step up to a more advanced fueling management system, say one with indvidual cylinder control, and EGT sensors. Don't get me wrong I'm all for making 2000 hp on a stock computer, but how reliable is it really going to be?

Have done it on a couple of cars now , the latest was a GTO that laid down 1130hp and is still a full street car.

We arent using 160 pounders but are close with a low impedance driver box to drive the injectors from the std PCM.

sometimes its not the hp they can support, its the rpm at a high hp setup. 8000 rpm leaves a pretty small window for injection requiring a larger injector to reduce the duty cycle...

I helped someone tune in 160's's with a Versa fueller box.It didn't do too bad.We got it to idle at 11.5-1 A/F at 950rpm and 40psi of fuel pressure. Then would go 14-1 at 1400rpm.This was a 416ci/Turbo setup.I wouldn't start a new engine on them since it takes work to get them to idle.
