In EFI Live how do you make the Hp Calculator work??

not real sure how to adjust for sae correction but i'm 5800 ft. or so and the correction factor is 1.21. atmosheric pressure at sea level is 102-103 kpa. kpa X .2953 converts to hg. hg. X 3.3864 converts to kpa. pressure here is 83 kpa basically 20% less then sea level thus the 1.21 correction factor. i attached my auto ve pid selection, this what i usually use. you want to log KR as well. i also have a fuel pressure sensor hooked up to aid in tuning. do you have a wideband o2 sensor? it will help alot, that way you can use the auto ve tuning. i'm still learning myself so i am sure there are other things i'm missing but this has worked for me so far. there is a lot of info on EFI Live's forum as well, they helped me alot.
the pid file wont attach but if you go into the pid selection files there are auto ve pids, i mostly use these, but i have a wide band as well.

Thanks, I'm also on the EFILive forum, but don't want to ask too many newbie questions. This kind of just fell into place from Hotbirds thread.
I don't have a wideband yet and yes, there is a lot of info in EFILive.
5,800ft ASL? And I thought I was in thin air. I I think my 4,800ft. is about a 17% loss? I'll look in to that more later. Right now I want to learn more about tune data logs. Thanks for the input.

i live in denver colo. the fuel trims are your best bet for tuning with out a wideband. i think the calc.pid file i uploaded earlier has a calc.pid for fine tuning the ve table using the STFT. i have not used it though. if it's not there do a search for STFT VE TUNING on efi's forum it is reletively recent and should come up quickly. wifes calling gotta go, good luck.

My bro in law lives in Denver, Littleton actually and we have an office in Ft Collins.
When the roads dry I'm going to run my car out to the dump and see what it actually tips the scales at with me in it.

With 23 PIDs and 27 channels, curb weight of 3554 plus 200lbs for me and 100lbs for my daughter I hit read 454RWHP. And I all I did was open it up a little bit in 2nd and 3rd gear. Max speed was 80 for a brief blip on a 65mph straight highway.

thats pretty good. mine was only third gear and was real close. i believe it is based on how fast the speed increases. have you entered the new gear ratio, it maybe skewed a little.

4th gear is going to be a little difficult. That's gonna be a little more than 15mph over the posted. Gears are correct.
Yeah it's based on acceleration and weight. How long it takes to increase X amount of mass by X MPH. So it's VSS and weight.

i was reading on efi's forum about this several months ago and there were a lot a variables associated with this. i logged the pid but it showed up as 0, so i left it and never messed with it again, hoping they would work out the bugs. then i came across this thread. i was suprised at how close it was. i was less then 2% off of what i dynoed a few months earlier. even if it's not perfect, but it lets you see if the changes you made acually increased hp. given you use the same path for tuning.

i've actually been playing with the timing since i switched to E-85. so i'm hoping the hp goes up some. some of the meth kits say you can get another 50-100 hp by adding more timing with the meth injection. i'm aready using alcohol as fuel so i'm hoping for the best.100 hp. i just need to get my new fuel system put in. i'm waiting on the new racetronix 79# injectors as well. I have to do emissions next month so i'll likely wait untill then. I just hope i can wait, now that the HP pid works i can really start to play around with the tune. those dyno days are too few and far between.

If someone could make a spreasheet in excel that graphed the data similar to a dyno it would be an awesome tool for onroad tuning. Unfortunatel making graphs from tables is beyond my skills in excel at the moment.

The scaling desparity always give me a problem in Excel. Over 10/1 RPM/HP

It can work if it is set up right and used in the manner intended. I have done simulations on it.
It could work in any gear if more work was done on it.

i do believe that is the one. did you ever come up with a solution to road and areo resistance?

I was modeling it like this and just adding that to whatever the Power PID cranked out.
