PC configurations that are below the recommended configuration may not support the full features of EFILive. For example, a 230MHz Pentium may not be able to update all the gauges on the default dashboard while logging real time data at 10 frames per second. In such cases you can reconfigure EFILive, see Appendix-G How to optimize data logging.
Two USB ports are only required if you are upgrading from FlashScan V1 to FlashScan

Hey Techfire,
Good speaking with you earlier today. As we discussed the system requirements are laughable Almost any laptop you can buy and certainly any laptop you can buy new from Dell or Gateway will do.
The Dell $499 special will definitely do but the only reason I don't recommend it is because of Vista.
I strongly recommend anyone using EFILive to use Win XP, as the system requirements are substantially lower and you don't have to deal with the sometimes quirky security protocols that are turned on by default in Vista.
Sadly, my laptop with about 1/8th the computing power and speed with Win XP boots faster than my Vista laptop.
Used is even usually a great route to go as you can certainly pick up a laptop with the minimum EFILive system requirements for no more than a couple hundred bucks.

http://www.dfsdirectsales.com/ That is a good place to buy refurb dell laptops.
The main thing to look at while buying them is battery life. MANY of the newer cheap laptops have crap batteries in them and dont last very long at all. That is the main thing to look for over many other specs as like everyone says, Efilive will run on just about anything.

Hmmm, I'll have to turn on the Bat Voltage PID
And mine is not an inverter, it's a DC/DC power supply. I could see where an inverter might put noise on the DC bus creating a problem with the filtering sampling????
