Default Having issues with PCM (GM Techs plz enter)

Okay

So there has been this whole fiasco with my PCM and I finally did get it reflashed by the dealership. So now I can license it with my HP Tuners (kind of) I can only license year/model option (6 credits) or unlock all GEN III vehicles (32 credits). But I do not want to spend 300 dollars worth of credits.

Now the reason why I can not license it with the 2 credit option is that my PCM does not have the VCM ID # and the BCC # set on the PCM.

So I went down to the dealership and I told the tech that they did not set those numbers and I got weird looks. They asked me how they would set those numbers with the tech 2 and I do now have an idea.

Would anyone know how to set the VCM ID # and BCC # on my PCM.

Thanks
Tilly

a gm technician at the dealer with a tech2 or mdi unit can only program your pcm with the vin# that you give them for your vehicle,, and the file that you get will be the latest gm calibration

When I had a spare PCM reflashed in-car, the dealership had no
idea -other- than to set it up with the original VIN etc. If it
didn't get done right then either your first one was not a match
to the car, or they did not do it "normal". Talk to the service
dept manager and ask why it isn't matching your vehicle when
you paid for a direct replacement.

a tech 2 cant modify the Id. Unless it wipes it on accident, But even if it wipes it and leaves it at all "F"s. It wont change it to anything else.

Well it did change it. Take a look at the hpt file I have attached in my previous post. And I had it set previously in my_tune.hpt (this was the previous stuff that was set).

GM Tis/sps will NOT modify the pcm serial number on any pcm. The only time it would ever do anything to that block of data is if there is a bad flash or corupt 4000-8000 area. At that time it would just erase and change the data in that location to all $FFFF "A blank report"

But it would never change the data to something else valid. IE 033JSHUW66 It would just be FFFFFFFFFFFF In the raw bin file.

Normally though when that happens, the pcm will act locked also. As the ecm is still locked but the key is not valid. In EFILive you would just enter the key of "$FFFF" as that is the real key to that ecm now because that area has been erased.

Im not sure how yours changed, But it wasnt with tis.

endmodel and broadcast should update when a new calibration is written, it's just a block write like the vin. Every new "revision" has a new endmodel and 4 character broadcast code associated with it.

Do you need to find out what it should be, or do you know?

The previous flash on the pcm is my_tune.hpt and the current flash on the pcm is 1999-camaro-z28.hpt and in that file those numbers looked corrupted.

So should I go back to the dealership and have them reflash the whole PCM again and see if they come up or should I do something else ????

you are never going to get your tune back if the dealer has already flashed your pcm,, gm can only flash the latest gm calibration for the vin# of your car, it is a factory file that can not be modified by the tech 2 scan tool or MDI tool, i should know, i am a gm tech for over 10 yrs

doesn't look like the tech 2 will do anything beyond the VIN using TIS. It can be done though, just not with factory tools.
