XP

While vista works I've found it to be very slow even with my core2duo & 1gh of ram and it does have alot of permissions quirks that peeve me to no end, unfortunately I kinda need to keep them activated so I can readily test our software on it when need be

Ive got vista on my laptop too with a firewall that gives alerts for almost everything. After the first time I installed and went through the prompts I havent had them come up again. Never seen it run on XP but I say you should be good with either.

Give full access permissions to the VCM folder in the install process and you won't have any issues.. The same quirks plague EFI LIVE but with permissions set to allow all is fine.

Yeah like I said telling our customers to do this or do that to get it to work is not in our best interest. Making it work trouble free without having to jump through hoops is our ultimate goal which is why we recently introduced Net 2.0 compliance & also changed the file directory settings to work hand in hand with vista.

Not everyone wants to turn on full access permissions or turn off UAC to make their program work

But yeah like I said I am not a big fan of vista as my now 3 year old gateway 1.4ghz celeron is faster than my 3 month old 2.xghz core2duo when it comes to the most basic of tasks like startup, There have been at least 2 dozen times where my vista machine would take upwards of 15 minutes from hibernate to full startup for no obvious reason, my gateway takes about 30 seconds

Me Vista

I agree. XP would be better for hptuners. Mine ran slow with vista, but I was able to overcome some of that by running msconfig and turning off a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Runs much better now. Having said that, I'd still take XP over vista and day of the week.
