Does LT Headers Affect the AFR?

Default Does LT Headers Affect the AFR?

If LT's affect the afr. Does it make your engine run richer or leaner? Dicussion we're having at work.

the reduction in backpressure causes more air to be drawn into the combustion chamber than before.

Long tubes are designed to give the best possible flow up top.

Air is metered by the MAF: more air = more fuel. Why should it ger leaner?

back pressure doesnt allow the engine to fully exhale the exhaust gass. when you put the headers on it allows the engine to fully exhale, which allows the cylinder to fill with more clean air. its going to pull in a little extra air, but the computer will not fully adjust. besides the maf does not know how much air is entering each cylinder.

The Maf will know that there is more air and give you mare fuel. Most people get rid of the cats. You then delete COT. Once you do that then can get the trims to lock at zero at PE. Once you do that you can set the A/f ratio. The tune from GM is rich.

It should remain the same. It will be pig rich at PE. Trims will keep it 14.7 when not PE.

I always thought that long tubes affected AFR because of the O2s being moved further downstream, NOT because of flow differences, because the MAF should pick up the flow difference.
