Default different LS1 computers

I've heard there are two differnet LS1 computers in f bodies, 1 computer for the 98-00 and a newer, faster computer in the 01-02 cars. I heard the newer computer has options for nitrous (along with a lot of other options). It will only adjust timing when using nitrous and keep it normal when not using it. Any of this sound right?

Actually there are 3, 98, 99-00, and 01-02

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...cms/index.html

98 is unique, different pinout, and not compatible with others.

99-00 service number is 09354896

01-02 is a board respin, and different processor, service number 12200411

99-00 and 01-02 are interchangable, and I have never seen a reason for a 99-00 being worse than a 01-02, in practical use.

The options for n20 and other "custom OS's) are all done by third parties (EFI live, and HPtuners) and can work on most 99-02 pcms (but not all stock OS's are supported, and this is why most go to a 01-02 OS)

Just as a side note, we offer custom os's for nearly every stock operating system from 98-07.

The later OS will run on the older slower PCM.

The later PCM has a faster processor but practially no one can really take advantage of that.

I keep forgetting you have a custom OS for 98's, too bad there wasn't a way for me to use it with my roadrunner
