P0153 HO2 slow response bank 2 sensor1
Got this code the other night. Strange thing is I just replaced O2's about 5K miles ago. Any thoughts as to why it would throw this code. Should I replace it, clean it, or look for bad wires?
Thanks in advance.

Have you done any other work that precluded you to in anyway move, take down, or otherwise breach the exhaust within 6 inches of the pre cat 02 sensor? In my limited experience the 153,(passenger side) or 133 (drivers side) and all of the other rear codes seem to be all related to low or no sensor activity; the sensor is detecting or trying to detect how much exhaust is going by; hence it can only be one or more of three things 1)exhuast leak 2)bad sensor 3)bad wires. Since the sensor is new I would rule out (2) which is why I asked if you had "moved," anything exhaust wise recently? The sensors are pretty fragile, I don't think attempting to "clean," it would be wise.

When you say rear codes, you sound like your talking about the rear O2's. Bank 2 sensor 1 would be the front 02, correct? As far as doing any work lately no, but I've always had some exhaust leaks, so I guess that is possible but looks like it would have shown up before now.

I have seen many cars throw these codes for front 02s when there is an aftermarket exh (headers and Y) of larger pipe diameter. The explanation that is most logical is that with a larger diameter pipe and the same volume moving through the pipe velocity is down thus slowing the sample rate of the sensor at lower engine speeds. I would be willing to bet that the sensor performs fine when it is hot and the engine is cruising along.

What kind of O2 sensors do you have?
I had Bosch sensors and when I put on my LT's I got the same codes. I replaced them with AC sensors, no more codes. I guess the AC's heat up quicker and sense better or something.
