But for the sake of simply arguing Sports Car... We're just a 2+2 Sports Car is all.

More on topic: The Firebird is the luxurious model of the F-Body. After owning 2 Firebirds, that's made itself pretty evident to me and I could never own a Camaro now lol
A sports car has 2 seats(some 2+2 apply, like the 911), and independent suspension all around.
Cars like the Mustang and Fbodies are muscle cars/pony cars. They have a solid rear axle and 2+2 seating. And yes, they could also fit into the grand touring classification, hence the Grand Touring badge the Mustang gets, and some LT1 Trans Am's got.

camaro Z-28
hard top, manual windows, cloth seats, basic ****. great for racecar build.(yes i know you can get it fully loaded to a SS)

trans am,
t-top, leather seats, monson sound system, basicly top of the line stuff.

trans am didn't have many choices. just color, M6 or A4, t-top or conv, oh and ws6 or not.

that depends on the year. I know some 4th gen TAs up to a certain year had hardtops and cloth.

Hard tops yes, cloth you could get it, sure. It just wasn't standard equipment.

^ Neither was hard tops. Even in 98 t tops were standard. If you see a bird with a hard top and a t/a bumper, its most likely just a firebird or formula with the bumper put on. I dont see why someone would actually have a T/A custom made to not have t tops.

You don't know very much do ye? I assume you know, at the very least, that 4th Gen started in 93. And that in 93 it wasn't a standard to have the high rise spoiler OR T-Tops on a TA. I know 95 is when the high rise spoiler became standard, I think that T-Tops did then as well. Can't say for sure with leather seats.

i like the hood on my 94 alot it just has cool lines to it. I also like the dash allllot more i cannot stand the vents in a comaro. or the guage cluster. but they are simular. and i do not like the fender fade into the side mirrors. my 94 trans am gt is one of 1500. so that makes is better. but thats just my two cents on why my t/a is better

It was standard in 93, GM made it an option in 94 and made it standard again in 95.

Leather and T-tops became standard on Trans Ams starting in 1998.
Before then you could order one with or without either option.
They did this because most buyers were ordering cars with both options up to 1997. I personally have seen several Hardtop T/A's including a rare `96 Emerald Green WS6 M6

Everything I've read showed it as an option till 95. I'm open to reading a site that says otherwise though. (Not to sound like a ******** heh)

From the very beginning back in 1967 the Firebird has been a slightly more upscaled car than the Camaro. Some of the literature written about the early models even state that. For one example, in 1967 the Firebird came standard with the "deluxe" interior where the Camaro did not. Yes, I'm partial to the 'birds' because I own a 1967, 400 4-speed car and a 2001 WS6. When I was 15 years old my dad and I looked at a '67 Camaro as my first car but one look at the '67 Firebird and my mind was made up. Pontiac engineers have always been fans of styling (excuse the Aztec) and comfort. Camaro has a history of being a car based on performance which is apparent everywhere you look. Pontiac took that a step further and added additional styling and comfort.

I have owned a total of 8 3rd and 4th gen firebirds and trans ams and my latest is a 2001 Firehawk. I used to own an 88 Formula 350 firebird black on black hardtop. I love my Firehawk, but as for the coolest 3rd gen I would take that formula back in a heartbeat. You just never see them. I miss that car!
