I think the 89 Turbo Trans Am was the fastest out of the GM stable for that year. I think the ZR1 Vette came out in 1990.

The 89 GTA is the fastest fbody ever produced and is marginally slower than a c5 zo6.

The L98 '98 GTA was the fastest fbody ever produced? They were rated at 240hp and were probably lucky to run low 14s. If you're talking about the 89 turbo trans am they were quick, but still only ran mid 13s or so.

Those were basically a GN turbo drivetrain in the F-body. Damn quick, especially fo rtheir time.

No 4th gen was available factory with a V6 and the WS6 Hood, period. Could easily have gotten a factory correct colored one and bolted it on, though... Maybe even a dealer that did it for him or to try and sell the car by sprucing it up thus making it 'as bought new', but factory? No.

HUH? A stock TTA is a low 13 second/high 12 second car. If you're running that in a Z06 there are some driving issues

I love the TTA(one of my favorite Fbodies) but it's nowhere near the performance of a Z06...not even close.

Appearance package was really just the lip kit on the stock V6 bumpers, t-tops, Y87 muffler but with tips, and it required/included the Monsoon sound system...

There was no official WS6 package for the V6 cars.

I took mine on a 3,000 mile road trip... It was just fine. Have to keep it between 55 and 68MPH for best MPG... But I know what you mean about the gearing... I don't even think about pulling hard on anybody over 75MPH...
I know the book says Y87 is auto only, but I bought a 98 bird with a stick and Y87 new. I did have to order and wait for it though.. I had it bought back lemon law two years later or I'd post the RPO sticker :o

pretty damn well covered in the first page NO V6 EVER CAME FACTORY WITH WS6, some stupid kid (previous owner) slapped some WS6 stickers on it the same way some v6 mustangs get a GT sticker stuck on them.

Not only that, WS6 wasn't even available until 96. Double fail.

As everyone else has already said, previous owner put that emblem on there. Personally, I'd get the heat gun/blow dryer and after a minute or two get out the floss and goo gone to get that emblem off. But hey different strokes for different folks I guess. Either way, hope you're enjoying your new ride.

That's not entirely accurate either. True, cars w/ the WS6 RPO were not "outwardly badged" as such until '96, but the RPO WS6 on Firebirds was introduced back in the late '70s ('78 I think) and included rear disk brakes. WS6 was an available suspension / brake upgrade on T/As (and possibly Formulas too) off and on (possibly continuously.....I'm not a 3rd gen historian) up until the "Ram Air" hood was added to the package in '96, at which point Pontiac began including the rear bumper badges.

And to re-iterate previous posts in this thread, there was only ONE V6 Firebird that could've had a WS6 RPO option from the factory: the '89 TTA. And while they were one of the fastest cars of that year, and could easily be tweaked to run 12s, in factory tune they were on a par w/ stock LS1 f-bodies (mid '13s), nowhere close to a LS7 C5 Z06.

Point me in the direction where I can buy an LS7 C5 Z06... Think you meant LS6.

DOH! Thanks for the correction. Although actually I meant "LS7 C6 Z06", which is the Z06 I thought was being compared to the TTA earlier in this thread. Now that I look back, it appears they were referring to the "LS6 C5 Z06". (Double DOH!) Either way, my point still stands. Both are faster bone stock than a TTA was bone stock. The LS7 C6 just moreso. No doubt, modified a TTA is a force to be reconed with, although the GN/GNX G-body is better at transferring weight for a better launch than the 3rd gen F-bod.

Also, I wouldn't be surprized if someone has transplanted a LS7 into a C5 by now.

Fair point, the WS6 RPO was not used on Firebirds in '94 & '95, although there were 15 1993 Firebirds built w/ RPO WS6. Please excuse me for my affinity for details.
