Good info! I still have one can of blue ATE left. I'll use it sparingly.

I found this one place that seems to sell it still: http://www.mzmperformance.com/ate-su...uid-dot-4.html

They're BBB accredited and located in Texas so I guess it'd be worth a shot.

Cut stock antenna down to 12" and rounded the tip then hit it with some paint, the one station I listen to didn't come in great with it at 30" and it's no worse so best five minutes spent in some time.

Reinstalled my muffler and tips after a few months of driving without them. I was dealing with several suspension issues and decided leaving off the exhaust until the full job was completed was just easier.

I've had my T/A for a couple of months now. When I got it, the front height adjuster on the driver's seat was all the way up and wouldn't go down. There was no reponse from the motor when I tried to lower it so I assumed it was the switch which is unavailable. Took the whole thing apart. From my testing, it seemed as though the switch was actually working. With the motor for the adjuster out of the seat, it would run both directions. Then, I found the actuators stuck in the up position. They didn't want to move but with a little effort, I got them working and screwed both sides down. I was hoping that was the only problem. Put everything back together and it still didn't work. Frustration level was high enough so I put the seat back in. If I ever find a switch, I might mess with it again. But for now, at least the front of the seat isn't too high now.

New thermostat today. The other day, when it was in the 30's here, I drove 20 miles and the car never got up to operating temperature.

Sold it. Now that I have the Challenger, the Trans Am got demoted to winter beater duty and it doesn't deserve that.

Sold it to a senior that goes to the local high school and is starting automotive training in college next year so hopefully it will see a better life than sitting in my car port for months on end which is what would have happened had I kept it.

I can't blame you, I was looking for a C4 Vette at the same time I was looking at fourth gens and I still want a C5. At the time it was easy to write off the fourth gen for either Vette but after owning mine for about 10 months now I'm not so sure. Which I've always wanted a LT1 bird and having found exactly what I want makes the decision harder, but I don't think I could get a Vette if it meant selling it now. Damn you emotional bonds.

I sold my '99 Firehawk 10 years ago to buy a C6. Then about 2 years ago, I started missing the Firehawk. As fate would have it, the 3rd owner contacted me this past Spring, and sold the Firehawk back to me. It only had 4K more miles on it then when I sold it. Currently, it has 24K miles and is being pampered again in it's own garage. I still love it!!!

So after doing more in depth research I've decided on doing the C5 Vette front brakes since they're the best option that'll fit under 17's and are affordable as well as easily serviced and replaced. I had been wanting to do '98-02 F-body brakes but to go through the trouble and expense might as well use the best I can for not too much more, at least having the LT1 it seems more feasible to go to C5 brakes anyway since I won't have to change spindles and it's a bigger increase in performance. Single pot iron calipers with 10.9" rotors to dual pot aluminum calipers with directional 12.8" rotors, should make a notable improvement and handle anything at autocross or any HPDE stuff I do.

As do I. I don't know how I would feel finding out that he wrecked my car. It will always be my Trans Am to me.

Finished up the replacement dash pad, not perfect but for under $50 involved it's better than spending $400+ and looks way better than a cover. It'll hold me until important things like brakes and suspension are sorted or I find a donor car:

I have an idea for taking care of the crack on the dash face that I think I'll try soon.

I was underneath the car yesterday afternoon to clear out the A/C evaporator core drain and noticed the sway bar bushings had a sheen to them, so I started poking and smooshing them and sure enough they're either poly or a really hard rubber and same with the rear bushings. I also measured the front and rear bars and the front is 32mm and the rear is 21mm, so I guess when the previous owner changed the shocks out they must've done this as well. I guess that explains why it handles through corners as flat as it does and handles as well it does for otherwise stock suspension, I knew it handled better and felt firmer than my father's '96 Z28 for some reason(I knew shocks were part of it since his had DeCarbons, but surely that wasn't all of the equation) but now I know why.
