Ram Air
well, ive had my ws6 since september. i had a 2000 TA before that, and i was checking out the differences and obviously ram air hood is one of em. i noticed that the ram air is restricted. when the air "rams in" there are two plates covering the air (probably for rain purposes).... my question is. has anyone ever noticed this? (which probably someone did and im going to feel stupid later) because i took one of the plates off and felt a better difference on the highway...

I read something that 100MPH the Ram Air effect makes 2HP...its not a sealed system so the "boost" created by air being rammed through the nostrils and into the airbox is very very small. I am sure you didnt really FEEL a difference at HWY speed by removing the baffles, you just imagined it. I wouldnt think it would hurt anything but its not going to help very much at all.

Maybe allow "more" cool air in, not so much more "ram" effect? A guy with an SS showed a picture of his car after driving in a snow storm - there was no snow on the hood EXCEPT over the ram air ducting. You could clearly see the circuitous ducting was providing colder air to the filter area! Prolly same on Pontiacs ram air.
