My T/A was a "Canary in the Coal Mine" at Milan
12:30ish yesterday afternoon I wrecked the T/A at around 80mph. Lost traction in poor conditions, car's tail went out from under me. Wound up spinning 1.5 times before impacting a barrier and sliding backwards about 40-60 feet at 60mph before coming to a stop. Ended up calling the day from the tower after weather began to fall apart again. Apparently some drivers were telling them to shut it down before novices like me got out there and tried to kill ourselves.
Only car involved, and I'm perfectly fine aside from a bruised neck. Rear diff is crunched, 2 rims cracked, tierod pretzel'd, door sandwiched and split, rear quarter smashed along with the core, and the frame is twisted.
Oh, and the drivers side seat snapped in two on impact.
But, I'm alive. Thank you, GM. Thank you St. Therese.
She will rise from the ashes, $7,800+ USD later. 38,218 original miles. Totally out of pocket on this one.
WARNING: F-BODY GORE BELOW! (Will resize tonight)

wow... glad youre ok.. very similar damage happened to my friends ws6 when a front tire popped and he spun out of control and hit a mini... the car ended up being way too damaged to fix. hope youre able to buff it out like NC01TA said... lol and not have to swap everything over to another car... especially since it has 38,218 original miles. good luck.

Got the bill today (minus possible driveline damage): $7800 bucks. Again that's if the 10 bolt didn't shatter and the T-56 didn't strip itself.
We're going ahead with the reconstruction.
Bonus to me: I told him that when he orders the replacement door badges that he order them in 1998 Sport Gold Metallic (if he can).
Also getting my tail filler panel sanded and painted over gloss black. Replacing the Trans Am Vinyl with SGM paint.

I mean it wasn't like I was going to try to turn it over for a 5th or 6th gen. I actually planned on keeping it from the beginning. Also found that what I paid for the car eventually evens out with this giant bill because I paid WAY under what it was worth in the first place.
Hell, not like I'm going to sell it anyway since this accident single-handedly killed any resale value the car ever had.
Also, my body guy actually located a matching GU6 w/ TC rear but we don't know exactly how screwed it is. Should know by tomorrow evening when we lift her and put it in gear for a low speed test. Depending on the test, should only be down till late summer, expensive and extensive.

Thats too bad, it really sucks.
I hate hearing about stuff like this at the track and there are too many questions.
Why did they let anyone run if there was moisture?
Didn't they scrub it first with the tractor?
Why didn't they send a track truck down to test the grip?

From there it just degraded. Got a little better.. degraded again, then finally SNOWED (2:30ish?). So in the end I don't know what to think. Luck of the draw and I drew the s**t straw.
They were still running in 'slick' conditions even after my wreck.. calling it from the tower at around 2PM. Just shouldn't have gone to the track that day.

Bump for raeg.
Body guy and I found out in a pleasent surprise that it's damn near impossible to find a pair of PA6 rims that aren't done half assed. Got a supposedly good pair in today only to find them chipped and painted quite poorly.
Ugh. Back to the drawing board, and someone is gonna get reamed by the both of us (body guy used them before but this was just WTFBS)
Other than that, quarter is in, car is on the frame puller..
