Default 1998 transam ws6 idles high 1000 to 1500

Just recently bought a ws6 with headers and no cats and da motor were ported and is ready for nos but it idles high when in nuetral and you cud smell gass fumes in da muffler is this normal or is somthing wrong never had a tuned up engine so not sure wat to do help

never had a tuned ws6 but after a tune on my G8 the idled the same amusing there is not a larger cam installed and sounded the same there will most likely be a faint gas smell that is normal since you said it has no cats but the gas smell should not be overpowering could mean you are running rich.ask who tuned it and see if they were reputable

ok the smells only strong when in idle it does waste a lot of gas and is it bad to run rich and is it expensive to fix

You are smelling gas due to the lack of cats. Clean your Idle Air Control Valve that is located on the TB. I would also clean the inside of the TB to make sure nothing is in there hanging the tb blade open.

If that does not resolve anything, I would start looking for vacuum leaks.

Thanks for da advice i found out dat it was hust a blown fuse dat control da mass airflow senor and it was causing da problem now it running like a champ it pulling550 hp

Glad you got it figured out, but the MAF issue should have thrown you a code to point you in that direction.
