1995 Firebird RAP problems
I own a 1995 Firebird Formula. I bought the car not running. Opti-Spark was out. Replaced it and the car runs really well. Engine and Transmission have been rebuilt by a speed shop. Have all receipts from previous owner.
My question today is on the Retained Accessory Power relay. When I shut the car off with the key out of the ignition and open the door it all works properly, radio goes off, power to windows go off, everything tied into the RAP. But when I shut the door after about 20 to 30 seconds I hear the RAP relay kick on and power everything back up. I've had battery drains and it is linked to this problem. Getting a little frustrating as to what the source of the problem is. Also the RAP relay has been changed out with a new one. And I know this year model doesn't have the BCM.
Thanks

This may be a completly different problem, but on my 1994 Firebird I would take the key from the ignition, open the door and the factory radio and clock would still be on. It ended up being a bad radio fuse.

UPDATE........for those of you that have aftermarket alarms, check them. The alarm I had was grounding out and causing the RAP relay to kick back in after I shut the door. I pulled the alarm system and it's working like a charm. The RAP shuts off after 10 minutes like its designed to work.
