Default 02 WS6 TACH Problem

Only my tach stopped working and everything else works and runs fine. I did research and most people said it was either the cam sensor, or the # 10 pin and wiring coming from pcm, or a ground. I pulled the intake & replaced the cam sensor, checked the #10 pin & wire , checked grounds and it still doesn't work. Getting frustrated......I would GREATLY appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thanks

Yes it threw the codes for cam sensor, knock sensor, some vaccuum codes, etc...that's why I thought for sure it was cam sensor....after I replaced cam sensor I took it back to get diagnostics and it was still throwing the same codes, including the cam sensor. I took it to dealer to see if they could sweep the tach to see if the gauge works, but they want to charge $160 just to look at it. Now I'm thinking of researching wiring diagrams on the car and getting that headache going. Thanks for the reply.

Also found out that when clear trouble codes tac goes to 1000 rpm on start up once and that's it....also # 10 pin connector on red pcm harness just goes to ecbm and the actual cam sensor wires pin #s 61 and 73 go to the blue pcm harness but the third wire on the cam sensor connector pin # 39 goes to the red pcm harness.......checking wires, cleaning more grounds and still trouble shooting but still no luck......once again would greatly appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thanks

Hi Zacmba, I cannot help you since i have not experienced this problem. Did a search here on LS1 and found some threads you may found interested. Not much but maybe they can point you in some direction? Good luck and please post the resolution of your problem.

If you have a friend with a TA you could always try there instrument cluster and that will give you a starting point. The problem I have with mine is I shift at 7,500 rpm and the tach only goes to 7,000 rpm....lol
