Modding WS6 hood for heat extraction?
So I've been experiencing some heat soak issues with my current setup.
I'm looking at a couple options, but one that comes to mind is cutting some sort of holes at the back of the hood right in front of the windshield. It is a factory WS-6 hood. I can't see it affecting the structural integrity of the hood. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this, if it worked well, and if ya have any pics.
Also open to any suggestions about moving air out from the engine bay.

well we all have heat extractors but they are totally just a design there when the tire/ engine shield is there, cutting the back of the hood won't effect anything and yes it would get more heat out.
i'm planning on removing the swing making all 4 holes open and opening the back completely, might remove the tire/engine shield too < what ever that's actually called lol.

I'll be exploring this in the next month or two. Gotta poke around and see if I can find someone to give me pointers, or have someone with a steady hand do the work. I have to move some air out from under the hood. I have a couple ideas.
I'll update this when I do something. If anyone comes up with pics or tips, post em up!

What color is your car? I might just paint it for you too.
If you are going to hack one up, I seen a yellow one on ebay with some damage. buy it, fix the damaged areas, and hack that one up. Then sell your OEM hood to me.

i have a trufiber hood. The back cowl has vents but the top part of the top front scoops are halfway blocked. Was thinking of cutting part of the blockage.

I hate to say this, but go to a Honda forum and ask them how they do there hood spacing in back, I was thinking maybe throw a few washers on each bolt to lift the hood up in the back a lil?

thay have a kit to do that on the 240sx. most drifters do that to lower underhood temps. from what i hear it drops the temps down around 20*

it does throw off the clean hood gaps. if ur ocd about things like that dont bother. however it cant hurt to see how you like it. its cheap and simple. its all function and no form.

Ok... Before you hack up a Factory WS6 hood (OEM), I will buy you a WS9, OR WS9 outlaw hood, in exchange for yours. They have heat extractors.

That looks amazing. I don't have the skills for that, but I like the look. I'm also curious if there's any issues with it fogging up the windshield.

What blackbirddaddy did is awesome.
although i would cut the new vent from behind aligned with the hood shape from under making a larger area for the air to flow out. i don't care about fog nor think it would happen.

i'm planning on cutting it out more.
then i'm cutting the back for vents, i'm so sure atm that it will change the whole engine bay temp
