Wait for a good manual car to come along, end thread pretty much.

Do you have the capabilities to do a transmission change? Tools, multiple jacks, jack stands.
Do you have the time to do a transmission change?
Do you have the knowledge of doing a transmission change?
Have you done research into "auto to manual" threads?

If you have to drive 200 miles to get a manual bird then so be it I'd rather do that than settle for what I don't want. My $.02

To start, I'm still holding out for that perfect trans am and yes I do have tools and know how to change out a trans. I Was just see how much of a pain it is.

You need to travel to get a near perfect T/A with a manual. If you prefer changing out a tranny, that's fine, but you said you couldn't find any. They are definitely out there. This is just Autotrader. See below:

You're not looking hard enough, its easier to buy a plane ticket and drive it back like I did. Craigslist (there are people that don't know about this website that have nice cars) Autotrader, car soup ect...

There was an SOM M6 for sale by me with 19k miles and was selling for 19k I think. I think it was a tech members car... They're out there. I was even considering making my auto a MVB after a 4L80E swap. That wouldn't be a bad idea either..

It's way easier to find a manual car than it is to find every little bit to convert an auto. 70's and 80's Trans Ams are VERY difficult to find in manual, but 1/3 of LS1 TA's were 6 speeds. Really shouldn't be too hard to find one.

I just bought mine through Craigslist. Autotader was not much help for me. 2002 Trans Am with 42,000 miles on it. WS6 package and manual. There was another in my area too. A 2000 T/A manual with 51,000 miles on it-one owner. Both had clean CarFax info.
Prices very from $13,000 to $16,000 depending on condition, milage and what the owner would like to have-

Just wait for a good one and you'll be happy you did. Manual cars keep their value more than the auto's, but they can still be had for $8k and up to around $20k. IMO they're worth it unless you're a die-hard drag racer, all around more fun cars.

I agree I got my A4 ws6 for a super good deal and local. I curse that day and wish I would have waited and gotten a m6 car
