Just picked up a 1998 Trans Am
Hi!
New here, I said my hellos in the introduction section and thought this should be in here with the other Screaming Chickens.
So a couple weekends ago I picked up this bird days before the junker was going to come.
It sat for a year while the owner was away, he returned to find the engine wiring all chewed up by mice, rats, those engine gremlins, who knows.
So it continued to sit under a tree for at least 3 years. But for the price it could have a blown engine and I don't really care.
I just need to get my hands on some wiring and see if it runs.
It was under large old trees that made a mess, but no sun damage and boy did it clean up nice.
Here are some before pictures.

The guy I got it from said it had about 90k miles, I only briefly hooked up 12v to pop the hatch and when I turned the key on the display lit up then went dark. I guess it could be because I already pulled out the PCM, not really sure.
It is an auto trans and the interior is really nice. It has a crack in the dash and a worn drivers seat bolster but that's about it.
I have a pic from after I cleaned up the carpet.
Kevin: That is really funny you replied to this I just got done reading about your rare paint color.

I can't believe people would scrap a late model TA just beacuse of chewed wires. I hope that's all the problem is. Sounds like you got a good deal.

You can get used engine harnesses (and body harnesses if you need it) from several different places. I replaced the engine harness in my '00 'bird after an engine fire crispy-fried it. Picked it up from Billy Graham's (not a site sponsor so you'll need to search for it).
