30th anniversary vs 2002 Collector's
#21
I'm definitely a Firebird Trans Am enthusiast and LOVE the CETA. Always have, even before I owned one.
I've been hearing the, "sucky yellow" complaint from members here since day one and the validity and impact of it are nil. It's a great color that has heritage to it and definitely doesn't look like other Yellow's on the road these days combined with the Black accents and its full of win.
I love the 30th, as well. The White with Blue accent is legendary and classy as stated. Maybe one day ill get one too, but I'm really a CETA guy through and through and would just rather have a couple more of them.
In the end, either way you go you will win because you will have either the LAST Anniversary Edition or the LAST Special Edition from the LAST year of production.
Both Rare birds in many aspects and a problem I wouldn't mind having.

Both nice cars, but i would definitely go for the ceta. Theres one i always pass by on my way home from work and it looks a lot better in person. The 30th ann. looks like an ordinary white ws6 with blue mustang stripes. Other than the interior, i cant find anything special to them. And i wouldnt use blue wheels if they were free.
OP, since looks are nothing more than opinions, i would go for which ever car seems more maintained and taken care of. At over 70k miles, neither of them are gonna be "1 of a kind" anymore.

^^^I think the blue and white 30th it classy....blue wheels and all, that would be my choice. While the CETA is cool, the whole black and yellow thing has kinda been hijacked by the Camaro/Bumble Bee crowd since the transformers movie came out lol.

Thanks for the comparison photos, 97ramsst.
I'd be proud to have both in my garage. They are both beautiful cars IMO and I applaud GM for producing them. These cars can be had for prices in the 20's in near mint, very low mileage condition. I would most likely buy either one of these before anything new from GM in the $40,000 price range. Again, that's a personal choice and not everyone would agree. Sometimes I have thought about having more than one LS1 F-body at a time but I do enjoy variety, and I have not tired of owning an F-body for 17 years now.
Celebrating my 17th year after the purchase of this new '96 Formula off the showroom floor in July '96.

The CETA Coupe pictured has 1782 miles on it.
The two 30ths were real low mile sister cars in a private collection in Birmingham...the coupe is 6spd and the vert an auto.

Only heritage of that yellow paint was it was the sunfire yellow from 93. If the car was millennium yellow like the vette I would have bought a ceta instead of a red ws6 in 02. I had 1st allocation for the "limited" car at two dealers, was so disappointed when I seen the color. I'm not knocking anyone's car here. My two best friends both have ce's. one with 6700 miles and the other with 17k. And they both agree they don't love the shade of yellow on there own car.

Thanks for all the discussion and pictures gents; this thread and the PMs have been more helpful than I expected. I decided to purchase the CETA based on much of the information in this thread. So far I'm loving it! I will post more pictures when I get a chance, but in the meantime here is a few cellphone pictures I took as we drove it back to my city:
The first picture I took after it was officially mine.
The owner decided it wouldn't be nice to have it full for me.
I'm heading to the car wash after I post this. There was 38928283 bugs on the highway. It looks like the car has stubble.

I'm very happy for you!! I'm glad the PM was useful too. Congratulations are in order, along with a dozen of those Tim Horton donuts . Couldn't help but notice the sign in the background. Man, we make that our morning ritual during our Canadian vacations.

CONGRATS! I would have bought the CETA too. It is slightly newer, love the black wheel scheme and the yellow just pops on the road! I see the 30th here at local car shows and it is no doubt one of the most "beautiful" cars there, but the CETA just looks wicked! CONGRATS!
