Ok Well I Have A 2000 Ws6 And Whenever I Unlock Or Lock My Car With The Keyless Entry The Headlights Flip Up And Down And My Headlights Make A Grinding Noise For About 10 Seconds. So My First Question Is That Is The Keyless Entry Supposed To Flip Headlights Up And Down When I Lock And Unlock And My Second Question And More Importantly Is How Do I Fix My Headlights? Do I Nead New Gears Or A New Motor Or What?

Ok time for Trans Am headlights one-on-one.........
(1)The headlights on our cars measures amperage (resistence) to know when the headlight is fully up and fully down. When a plastic
gear in the headlight motor gets stripped the system keeps powering the motors and thats why you hear a jackhammer noise when you lock/unlock the doors or when you turn on/off the headlights.
(2)The 180 temp fix is when you rotate the gear in the motor to the unused portion. The gear in the motor only uses half of a side to raise/lower the lights, so you have another half of the gear that has never been used.
Heres a step by step write up for the temp fix http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm#FreeGuide on that same page you can order some brass gears
to replace the plastic stock ones
. Hope this helps.

I had this just happen two weeks ago. Had an extra headlight hanging around from my last T/A and swapped it out. Fixed the problem. Weird how it seems to affect so many things!
