i am thinking of buying a TA and was wondering if there is a way i can determine if a TA is the real deal vs a converted firebird by the vin number

From the VIN number, you can call PHS( Pontiac Historical Services) and find everything out on the car. It cost about $60 but you get the original build sheet with all the options and where it was sold. If it was an original TA it should have WS4 on the ID plate on the cowl just back from the firewall.

Agreed ^ PHS is a must these days. Not only for your own satisfaction but for the next owner when it comes time to sell. They are now up to $65.
