The the 5.3 is staying. I'm going to add some speed parts though, headers, LS6 intake and maybe even a cam and a better set of heads. Hopefully the engine runs.

I saw this thread on here, but didn't even realize you were local until I saw the part out post for the camaro on Craigslist lol. Good luck on the project.

If the wrecked Camaro has a real SS spoiler on it you could sell that and it would pay for the Firehawk. That's crazy.

I'm glad that you found that Firehawk. I wish you the best on building her. Ebay usually has wheels and center caps for sale if you opt for the factory look.

Right now currently including the purchase of both cars and parts sold off of the Z28 I'm currently up $150 dollars. So everything is free so far plus I made $150!!!

Right now I'm trying to find a hood that's better suited the than the stock V6 hood but the OEM Firehawk is out of my price ranger and other aftermarket hoods don't fit. =\

Hate that it is out of your price range as I think the factory FireHawk hood is damn sexy.

Well I have the money to buy it but I just don't feel paying so much for a hood. Seems weird when I've spent so little on everything else.

Might end up going with an OEM Ram Air hood.

A long time ago, I think I heard that the front bumper cover gets modified to match the Firehawk hood. So, a stock hood may not fit properly. You'll just have to buy the stock bumper cover too. The other guys on the forum may know more about this than I do.

Yes, that is correct. SLP modified the stock Firebird front fascia by trimming it inside the lower "nostrils", so that the Firehawk hood would fit flush in that area. If you use anything besides a stock Firehawk hood, you will have a gap in that area. You could, however, swap the front fascia with an OEM (non trimmed) piece, and then any GM or aftermarket hood would fit properly. If that was my car, I would take the time and spend the money to install all the proper Firehawk parts, to bring it back to original spec. And that includes the LS1 engine.

Interesting thread, looking forward to following your progress.

Engine is out. A lot of it is broken including harmonic balancer, some sensors, intake manifold, throttle body, valve covers. Still plenty more work to do.

Awesome find! I'm with wu6fiend, I would get the correct hood. Also with all the broken bits on the 5.3 I would part out the motor and find an ls1. Good luck getting that thing back on the road!
