hahaha yeah I kind of forgot I made this thread, ive done some other things inbetween but nothing as substantial as actually getting her going again. I had to clean the tank and fight through a bunch of other issues to get to this point. Being a parent slows down my garage time hahaha especially in the summers. But earlier this year I commited to getting her back on the road and enjoying what I built instead of staring at it. yeah 4th gen is just something I cant shake...... my first car was my brothers 93 Camaro. I've had several sports cars and trucks but 4th gen birds are just always gonna be something I gravitate towards.

Chestnut mound is about 30 minutes from me! My wife used to teach at Carthage and oddly enough Carthage was were me and slwtrp got dyno'ed. Sorry for your loss.

Got one last project to knock out before the tune, ive updated all my accessories and changed out the brackets to Billet. Last piece of the puzzle is my water pump im hoping to install it tonight and ill post some pics of the "finished" engine bay? it will never be finished.......

Whose in for some pics?!?! New DRLs new fogs, new coil pack brackets, cleaned up grounds on core support, and added some more steel braided hoses. Only thing not steel braided is the coolant overflow. I've not picked out a tank I like yet. Also I have a little sheet metal work to do to hide the battery and fuse panel area. Saw an old post on here and I'm gonna duplicate the look.

been plugging away at the last things that didn't function from the swap/from setting so long.

My hatch release didn't work unless using the key. Ended up that the park safety bypass from my auto to manual conversion came loose. SOLVED
And the second was my fuel level gauge was inop. I thought it was ground related, but turns out the level sender resistance board cracked in half. It's an aftermarket unit so I can replace just the sensor only and I've got one on order. Once that's fixed as far as I know that's the last of the issues and I can get back to enjoying this beast!

finally got to go drive her around some more. ultimate consensus is she needs to come up some, my steering is rubbing and creating a little bit of a drag (295's up front) and its actually causing her to choke out. which means drivability still may need some work, which the tuner admitted when it left and offered remote time so no biggie just gotta get the wideband sorted out and log some drivecycles.

throttle is very responsive she wants to be on the road and let loose! tonight or tomorrow Ill work on ride height again and hopefully the rain lets up so I can put around some more. all in all extremely pleased with how things panned out so far. just need to not let her set so damn long.

drove her to work today, first time its been on the road legitimately and made it to its destination in 8 years????? man where does the time go. it was a cool morning she behaved well, clutch loosened up a bit. shocks are at full soft which will change. I also dont like the steering wheel I chose, its a 320mm and it just feels way to small driving down the road. and made for some weird turns. so ill be looking for a replacement for sure.

New wheel installed. Gonna try and get a different horn button didn't like the one that came with it. Still need to go for a drive to see if it feels better turning. But I like the size and general feel of it.

dialed in the ridetechs and drove the new steering wheel around the town yestrarday with the tops off cause it was 74 degrees and sunny. Feels great to drive this car and im sure I had a dumb look on my face. pedal respose is so good after the tune. Thats all the good

now the sketchy....... Steering is still much harder then my GTO, I gave it some leeway, but im thinking its actually the column from where I had to swap after the "hub incident" there a grease job for these things??
there is also a dead spot to the left and right in dead center like play in the steering gear..... really done want a third column......

there is a clunk in the rear end which is supsension related. That i believe is my sway bar. I used some 3 inch u bolt clamps to mount my sway bar bushings to the axle shafts and i think its created a bind and there isnt enough clearance for the bar around the center chunk and its rubbing/flexing in turns when loaded. easy fix since UMI makes a kit for it and oddly I still have oe rubbing endlinks on this thing??? I was shocked swore i replaced them when I installed the bar. This issue makes me think the rear is a little firm but im not gonna make any more adjustments till I fix the sway bar stuff.

Think big brakes are gonna be delayed. I dont want to put the car down in case we have pretty days cause it might be a mild winter. again and im still getting used to how she drives and I dont think any big changes should be introduced for a while.

so more money for the Camaro

Now I can get all my stuff in one place and get back to working on projects. Since December, my shop has been a disaster (probably just to me but I could probably get a slight OCD diagnosis honestly) so I've been waiting on this to show up! Now the real work can begin!

Now that the garage is squared away im back to it with new motivation.

2 things have been nagging at me with this car project wise. Going with big brakes which at this point I'm putting off cause I want more road time as is and a gauge refresh. Been stuck on the idea of a digital display. Here is an edit of what I'm after I think. White plated are the screens. I cut some styrene to shape of both the display and the chipset to get true dimensions andnsee what I can get away with. Center gauge is a speed hut 4" tach

Both screens would be 7 inches placed portrait wise to maximize display. Right side would be speedo, odometer, volts and im toying with a shift position sensor (manual). Left side, fuel level oil pressure and coolant temp. I spec and build data collection systems as part of my job. 98 ecm canbus is ....... we will say slow. Signals will be easy since I'm on aftermarket stuff as is, problem is adapting to the display and making it look clean. That I have some ideas for.

Template edit attached ignore the current guages peaking through

Just stumbled onto this thread and nice work Blackbyrd. I'm really digging that gauge cluster you put together.

Got around to changing my rear sway bar mounts. Raising it off the axle shafts giving it more clearance around the pumpkin. Need to drain the old gas so I can take her for a spin now thst it's getting warm!

Alternate guage idea ... can't decide if I want split screens or a single. With the single there is quite a bit of dead space.

Well I thought I had a bad gas problem, turns out I had a not gas problem...... was trying to drain the tank by disconnecting the line leading to the filter. Couldn't get a lick out of her. So I thought maybe it was that low (my fuel guage is nit accurate it says at 1/4 even at 1/2 tank) so I poured a gallon in primed right up...... so I backed her out let her idle a bit and scared the new neighbors. Gave her a good wash and now she is ready for warm weather,!,) even snagged a good shot of both of them together not in the garage.
