Default capable engines for a 95 firebird

1995 Pontiac Firebird Covertible 3.8l. What other options can be used instead of the 3.8?

I have 0 knowledge on engines. I want to make sure I make the right decision.

The LT1 is the 1st motor that comes to mind.

However, the prevailing opinion that I've read due to issues and costs is to sell the 3.8 and buy a V8 car.

An LS1 / LSX swap is the best option. You can get 5.3L LM7's (Truck variant of the LS1) cheaply enough. Getting some of the extra parts is a pain in the *** but it's not that bad. If you've got an average V6 car, selling it for a V8 is fine but if it's really clean there is no reason not to do the swap.
