Default Looking for some input. Looking to build a firebird

Hoping to get some advise. Just sold the Vette and am looking to build a new street strip car this off seasons.
Car needs to be a turbo low 5 second car that is street able. Planning on running Holley efi.
Few questions.
Should I look for a V8 or v6 car?. I know I need a new rear end and tranny anyway.
For a turbo car do I need a new front cross member?
I assume I need to be looking for auto car or does that matter?
Any advice one what car to look for and why would be appreciated. And what year is best. I am looking at the 2000 era cars.

I am looking at the ls1 cars just to use the block but not sure am aluminum ls1 block can take 1200 hp.

I'd suggest buying a finished car from the forum classified. If you want to build one start with a roller since you'll be building a custom drivetrain anyway. No point spending more just to get an engine you aren't going to use.

I would suggest doing a 5.3 or 6.0 iron block if your shooting for 1200hp
