Gotta Go To Work to support my habit. Here is a preview of what I am working on as I get Time.

New PS cooler $25 bucks at O'Reilly's

proposed new cooler location with plenty of air flow

New PS pump, old hose and cooler, New upper rad hose

I saw a few videos of people putting a cooler here. But that is right behind the air valence and will not get air circulation.

Had a little time after work. Mess with the power steering a little. Pics of the old cooler. More pics to follow on the new cooler and location.

Finally got some time for the Firehawk. Relocated the power steering cooler. Drained all of the old fluid, Flushed the system. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to get the car put back together. Here are a few pics of what I did. when I am done and make sure it works as it should I will post a parts list with prices. It was pretty inexpensive, and I am sure will work better. Also when I took the lines apart I went lock to lock several times with the steering wheel, until nothing else would come out. Then left the return line from the cooler open when I put it back together. Filled the reservoir with Power steering fluid and went lock to lock again until clean fluid was coming out. Start up should be tomorrow. I will update how it goes.

Drilled 2 holes through the lower valance to put the hoses through

Nasty fluid left in it after going lock to lock to push all the old fluid out.

New route PS lines motor side.

New Location and New Cooler

Proposed location. This is where I did mount it

The back side of the valance where a lot of people have mounted their coolers. I didn't like this because it doesn't allow air flow to the cooler.

Got Baby Bird back on the ground this morning. Power Steering works like a Champ. Went up the road a couple of miles. Someone was in my head saying go back home. Turned around and went home. Got out with the car running, raised the hood. BOOM! Radiator hose blew off. Guess someone was looking out for me. Bad clamp, all is well. Now that the pump isn't whining I can hear one of the idlers making noise. I will check into it when she cools down. Also swapped a few parts.

I have been looking for a few parts for the Hawk so I haven't got much done lately, but I did find these while cleaning on it yesterday. I have never seen a missing portfolio letter before so I thought that was pretty cool.

01 Owners Manual and supplement. Details all parts and numbers replaced by SLP

Inside like new ,never written in or filled out

Blank survey

What the car came with instead of the Firehawk Portfolio

Letter to new owner

Also the prev owner "repaired" a broken window guide on the drivers door. I fixed his repair properly.

Looks like a fun restoration, lots to keep you busy. Looking forward to exterior pics of the car. I mighta missed the backstory but why so much rust? Left outside, driven up north during the winter?

left outside baking in south Louisiana. Rotted the windshield seal. That was the only rust on the car. Replaced the windshield and added ceramic tint to it. Then had the hatch resealed.

Pulled the Hawks Shifter out and replaced it with a HURST. Much better feel to me.
