The rest of our journey from AZ and heading back home. A little description is under each photo.
We did stay one night at the Wigwam motel. Each unit has an old car in front. Not great accomodations but fun to experience. "Standin on the Corner in Winslow Arizona" was a highlight with the nearby stores playing the Eagles hit 24/7 it seemed. In the last photo a bad T-storm was developing and I rushed to get this photo with 40 mph gusts. I noticed a tail light bulb out as well. Hope you enjoyed the photos in both parts, and if you can somehow, I recommend a trip ike this sometime in the near future before it's all gone one day. I think that I have been to everyone of those locations. Funny thing is that we were eating dinner one night at El Rancho in Gallup New Mexico. About a month after that I took a project at the Gallup refinery. I owned a small company then and we had people working there for the next 7 years. Good fun. I know that you enjoyed your trip.
Great stuff. I've driven back and forth from Wichita KS and San Diego many, many times, but never have taken the time to do the Route 66 stuff along the way. Maybe once I'm retired I'll find the time and check in with you about it.
^^^ Yes, had to take that photo. Very cool! There is another sign just like it when you enter Rte 66 from the opposite direction. Some counties and cities really get into the Rte 66 stuff while others simply ignore it. I think it's a mistake to ignore as there are many older folks that love to travel this route. Tourism brings good $$$ to whatever area it is located.
