Sweet wheels, Sweden!

The WS7 hood mentioned above is actually a private company's "WS9" hood, with the wheel vents like on the Firehawk models. WS9 is also a performance/handling package from Pontiac(It's right next to the WS6 on my sticker). A WS7 F-body is just a fake WS6.

One way to tell, unless it too has been swapped, is the lower portion of the intake box. It's got a 3/4" high opening on standard LS1 cars, vs. 2" on SS/WS6 models.

Default I Have The Answer!!!!!

JUST SO YOU KNOW... a WS7 features include everything that the WS6 package included, only they weren't done at the factory, they were added by the owner of the car. Thats it plane and simple. =0)

WS9 is the Formula Conversion Package All it means is the car is equipped with a V8. So all V8 Firebirds (Formula and Trans Am) Carry the WS9 RPO.

I don't recall what the real WS7 RPO is related to (yes it is a real code) But I do know it has Nothing to do with Performance.

I beleive Suncoast Creations was the company that originally was selling WS7 emblems to go with their Raptor Hoods.

ws7 was made only to compliment the ws6.. Its not a fake ws6. I know mine isnt a ws6.. so i call it a ws7 because it isnt a regular TA now..

BTW

"GM being GM, did not expect the new WS6 to be as popular as it was. It seemed more people were ordering the WS6 package than they had planned which led to a shortage of 4-wheel disc brake axles. What to do? Do we continue to push orders back on the highly profitable Trans Ams because we don't have enough axles, and maybe build fewer than targeted. No, GM, once again being GM, created as new RPO, WS7 which was essentially the WS6 package without the 4-wheel disc brakes. Oddly enough, GM listed 4-Wheel Disc Brakes as a separate option J65."

WS9 does not mean it's a Formula
WS9 is listed as the Formula Conversion Pkg but it just means the car has a V8. Therefore all Formula's and Trans Am's will have the WS9 RPO.
W66 Formula Merchandise Pkg and Y82 Trans Am Merchandise Pkg RPO's will be present to identify the Model.

After doing a little searching I retract my former statement about the WS7 not being a Performance Pkg Thanks for the info Joshiedoom (learn something new everyday) Basically what their saying is that Some `79 Birds had the same set up as the `78 WS6's which did not include 4 Wheel Disc's

formula doesnt mean its a formula firebird it means it has a v8

all ws6 have both ws rpo codes.

all trans am start out as a formula..then get the trans am package and if they are lucky then go to asc and get the ws6 rpo code.

When my Order arrived at the Dealer my Salesman saved all the original paperwork for me including the Plant Manifest and the Window Sticker. Everything is in perfect condition and I use them in my display board at Car Show's.
And to tell you the truth I really don't know if they put build sheets in car anymore like they used to.

The Build Sheet I believe is now the "RPO" code sticker. That's my guess as to what he means.

Also, if it IS a WS7, and it was some option package (which it wasn't), then it would be in the paperwork, and the rule of the internet is "Pics, or you're lying" So lets see some pics of the paperwork.
