Found out what the insurance would be...
I went to State Farm yesterday and found out the insurance for me on a few different T/As.
2000: $196/month
2001: $218/month (wtf?)
2002: $207/month
These are with the car under my dad's name, but me as the primary driver. This is from $96/month which I pay for my 96 Accord. Any thoughts?
BTW: I'm 17.

With you as the primary it will cost more. I have Allstate, and because of the number of cars in my family, my son had to be put as a primary driver of a car. (so allstate said) Before he was a primary driver he drove one car under me all the time. I only said he would drive to school then to work. That was all that was said about that. Yes he drove it all day all over the place. I was told by Allstate that if he wrecked the car and it was his fault, then he would or might be dropped, when he was not the primary driver. Now that he is the primary driver of a car that I signed for, I don't know what would happen to him or myself if he wrecked and it was his fault. So strange how a insurance company can quote you such a jump in price. State farm wanted so much more when I checked around. Then again Allstate was double if my other son went to them.

I am 17 and i only pay 65 a month and its under my mom as a primary driver, and my trans am is under as a liesure vehicle because we have 7 vehicles, and only 3 dirvers. I was driving the trans am when it got hit, and my insurance company didn't say anyhting to my parents about it. Then again the accident wasn't my fault at all.

My T/A is only $150 every THREE months. That is with Alfa. My dad is the primary and I ain't even on the car at all. I am on the oldest thing my dad owns which is a 1972 Chevy Pickup. But, what ever I drive, I am covered. So it doesn't matter. Haha!

If you are keeping the accord, have the T/A as a weekend car under your dad.
I am not sure if State Farm designates vehicles as weekend/leisure, but some do.
Nationwide does not, which is who I am with. I am 33 and have my bird insured with nationwide, full coverage with $0 deductable for $65/month.
btw, are the other insurance companies having you all sign papers saying that you won't race the car or add anything performance wise to teh car? I had to sign that with Nationwide.

Never heard that either,
Also I know that I am with Allstate and as mentioned before had to be listed as a primary driver of my car as long as I had a license. My dad didn't want anything to do with my car when i got it so I am on my own policy. However, with that comes a great increase in price. Im paying around 1800 a year now full coverage with allstate.

do you have anything other cars you could drive, i had a old truck that i used as my primary and listed my camaro as secondary car which cut my cost in half. My truck didnt even run but the insurance company didnt need to know that.

I was in a bad accident with my T/A. So bad, it was declared a total loss and the insurance took it. At the time of the accident I was 17 and I was not even as the additional driver. My mom had the car under her name and the insurance had her as the only driver. I was put on either a 98 S10 Blzer or 96 Grand Am(dont remember), anyways, according to our insurance agent, the accident was covered because I was my mom's son and have a license.
I still dont understand this, but apparently Farmers Is the only insurance that covers children of the policy holder as long as they have a drivers license and are under 21?(not sure).
The insurance payed the car and the other person's car like if I was the primary driver.

I had Farmers when I was living at home and had the same type of coverage.
The way I was told it works is you would only have liability on the cars you werent listed on. Cool you got them to replace/repair your moms T/A. I know the agent makes a big difference......I left Farmers after my agent retired...another agent took over and jacked my rates from like 125 a month to 200+...he told me I had discounts I did not qualify for on the policy.
