Those are pretty sweet lights, LEDs in general are awesome.

However, they aren't $1300 nice

Interesting, its like the newer Caddys, they have LED brake lights, they look pretty cool but man that is WAY too expensive. I wonder why, LEDs arent that expensive, expecially red ones.

for the ones bright enough for brake light use, expect to pay $.50 to $2 each.. depending on where you buy them... lets pretend you buy them in bulk for this project @ the cheapest ive ever seen them... fifty cents.
.50 x 350 = 175 but we're making two lights, so thats $350.. plus solder, and a few boards... more if its a custom board.
dremel bits.... ok.. all-in-all.. about $430 by my gusstimate.

then add in roughly 50 hours of my time, per light.

having attempted a couple brake light projects..... yea, id say the price is reasonable. theres a reason everyone doesnt do it themselves.

all that said... i wouldnt buy them for that price either...
and thats why noone really has a successful long term brake light biz unless they go into real production..

that's way overpriced, i was thinking about doing that too (since i always dream about owning a Black M6 WS6 someday when i graduate..) anyway i'm gonna do it to my truck tail lights and since I'm majoring in electronics that's cake for me all you need is resistors and LED's which may add up to 20 bucks or less in parts

I don't need to be lighting up the city when I'm braking. Car brings too much attention on it's own already.

True.... so are you going into brake light production, or have a electronic shop hookup?

I was readinbg a little about this whole LED thing and while it sounds simple, a good reliable project can be a daunting task. Voltage regulators, Pulse With Modulators for parking light, etc are just a couple of challenges. Stuffing everything inside a 'bird tailight while keeping it stock looking is another challenge. When you think about it the price isn't unreasonable.
