Default 1994 Pontiac Firebird WS6

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1994 Firebird Formula WS6 for $5000.00 and I am wondering if this is a good deal... I am almost positive that it is because of all of the work that has been done: rebuilt engine with only 1500 miles on it, custom rebuilt trans, weight reduction, less than 1 year old paint, etc.... but I am wondering how rare of a car it is. I haven't ever heard of a 1994 formula WS6, and I have been looking all over the boards for one. If you own one, or know anything about the rarity, please let me know.... thanks in advance.

Sounds nice, but there was no WS6 in '94.

The WS6 option wasn't re-introduced until 1996 ~Joshua

I just read on one of the sticky's "Formula WS6 and Trans Am WS6 (1970.5-1995)" so, I know they were made... does anybody on here have one, or know if it is rare?

Dude... there were no WS6 cars between '93-'95

I own a '94 Formula in addition to my '02 Firehawk. I live,eat, breathe f-bodies, I know what I'm talking about.

Somebody may have slapped on a hood, rims, and WS6 badge, but it sure as hell isn't a factory WS6.

Okay, I am sure I don't know as much about firebirds as you do... I am just a little confused though. On the sticky here https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-firebird-1967-2002/492966-firebird-models-list-history.html it says near the bottom that there were ws6's made in 1994.... unless I am reading it wrong it says "Formula WS6 and Trans Am WS6 (1970.5-1995)"

thanks for the help though

I'm going to be silent now so others can give you a second opinion about the WS6 part when they see this thread.

Aside from being a factory WS6 (it can't be) the car seems to be pretty nice for the money. ~Joshua

I'd buy it...

"WS6" has been an RPO option code used on Firebirds for many years prior to the "outwardly badged" WS6 "ram-air" models that were introduced in '96. I don't know all the details of exactly what that RPO included in terms of equipment (rear disks in '78 for example.... I believe, upgraded suspension in other years), or exactly what years it was actually available as an option.

If your RPO decal on the car (it was on the inside of my glovebox in my '94 Z28) contains the correct VIN# for your car (i.e.: not faked) AND the WS6 RPO code, even if it is a '94, then you have a '94 Firebird Formula with the WS6 option (whatever that contained in '94), but it did not come from the factory with a ram-air hood, rear bumper badges, 17" rims or tweeked exhaust. All that was added to WS6 in '96 and up (I'm pretty darn sure).

I would say check out the RPO sticker, but I am sure there was no WS6 package in 1994. Gm did not reintro it until 96 and it was not even onsite, cars were shipped to ASC for the conversion to a WS6 car.

You can call pontiac historical and they can run a history of your vin and give you all of the options, I think it is something like $35 and it will give you a window sticker as well as the option list if memory serves me.

I'm with you on this one. Adding a ram air hood to a non-WS6 'bird happens to a LOT of the fourth-gen cars.

as everyone has reiterated, and I will again, the WS6 option did not have any meaning again until 1996. 1993-1995, did not have WS6 as a performance option.
