I totally agree with this Goodyear set of tires or the Bridgestone Potenza, a superb rain tire. You won't go wrong with either set. I owned a '96 Formula for over 8 years and never a problem in the rain unless I stepped on it a bit too hard. Driver error, not LT1.

Just use your head, and you'll be fine driving in the rain. I guess that goes for any vehicle...

Weird!!!! I had a 95 TA and a 96 WS6 TA and never had any issues with the Opti.......drove it thru puddles, in the rain, etc. Even when my water pump went out (3 times on the 95) it didn't damage/effect the Opti........I must have been lucky?

I can't see any reason that the opti would be effected during "normal" rain-driving situations........hurricanes, torrential downpours, etc may alter your results.

you forget he has the non vented opti spark so water is prone to get in there A LOT easier than a vented 95+

Add to post:

To add the car is fine now, it didnt damage the Opti but I thought thats what it was..

Kinda misposted on this one.

I've heard about water causing problems for the Opti but I'm almost positive what happened was my car sucked in water through the intake.

Its fine now though :]

have you upgraded to a "vented" optispark unit?

GM made them non vented in 93/ 94. they added vents to let moisture drip out and not ruin them for 95+.

It sucked water up through your intake!!!!! Did you go the cheap route and not by the cover for your intake so it doesn't do that.... yoiur lucky to still have an engine to run in your car if it sucked water into it. Sounds like you need to be more careful and invest the little bit of money to insure that you have a car to drive.

I still wanna know how a Fuel Injected car sucks up water unless you have a SSRA or similar mod.........and even still, I have the WS6 (with the hood nostrils right there) & the SLP CAI with the SSRA (equivilant) and it has never sucked up water.....now granted, I haven't driven it thru 2 feet of water, but still, I do live in Seattle.

Who ever told you that is an idiot on so many levels its almost funny, I use to daily drive my LT1 rain or shine and it made it through some very nasty rain storms. I never liked it, not because I was worried my opti would mess up, and I even once had to drive through some high wayer but of hydroplanning in to a concrete divider.
