Posi ?
i just bought a 99 firebird. after messing around i found that is doesn't have posi. i want to get it installed. my question is, wud it be better to get an aftermarket posi, or get one from another T/A or Formula?
Depends on how much ya wanna spend, ...
eBay or the For Sale ads here on the site can get ya a used unit for a good price that will simply bolt-in easily.
If yer really going to build power & use it for drag racing, then spend the money up front now for a Moser set-up or something similar.

I assume your 'bird is a V6 car. That's the reason for the open rear end (or one wheel peel).
Just like PontiacFan said...it all depends on what your future plans are for the car. I'd recommend the Moser too.

Just because it is used doen't mean junk. You have to use your head when hunting for parts. And the s-10's are the same gears and carrier unit as the f-bodies no difference. You can also get them cheaply.
You might wanna just find a junked out Bird or Camaro with a factory V-8 and take the whole rear end and shaft, If I am correct some v-6 fbodies have a multi piece drive shaft that doesnt like being ragged on
