Question DRL socket fried

Anyone know of a fix for the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) that seem to always hold water, which ends up destroying the lamp socket? I'm guessing the sockets need to be replaced. I also recall someone saying they drilled some holes in the lense/lamp housing to allow water to drain out.

Assuming the sockets need to be replaced (they're black and crispy) does anyone know the GM part numbers for them?

Thanks for the help.

Dead Link -

Had the same problem myself, i've replaced both housings and both sockets. Seems that the blub burns so hot it cracks the top of the housing, allowing water to get in there.

Yup...same problem here until I did a few things. First I had to replace both sockets. Next i drilled a small whole in the bottom of each house close to where it meets w/ the lens. Next where the housing started cracking at the top above the bulb, I just used clear RTV to seal it. It's been close to a year and still no blown bulbs or water problems.

Try the Search function. Type in "DRL part number" like I did and see the results. Here's one of the links that pops up: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...RL+part+number
