I never planned on putting mine in(had them off for years). Then one summer I went home to IL on vacation and while sitting out in the sun the radio display and the shifter display both developed a slight haze/ring around the outside. After that I tinted the windows and put the shades in.

This is the 4th year I have owned the WS6. Before this bird I drove 3rd gen transams for 3 years. The heat through the tops sucks, especially when you have no working AC. And anyone who has owned a 3rd gen can tell you all about the leaks. So when I bought the WS6, I immediately put the shades in. So for the last 3 years I have had them in, and the tops off once driving, once to clean. Just trying to avoid leaks by not foolin with them to much. Ya, maybe I am being a little uptight, but its my first car that I stay dry in.

I wish I had ttop shades! Even with tinted windows and a front windshield shade, the seats will get hot from the glass tops. My tint guy wouldn't tint them bc he said something about it being a diff type of glass or something??

I purchased a set shortly after buying the car used. It lowered the temps insidue from stupid hot where it would take 5 minutes to cool the car down, to where the car would cool in under 1 minute.
But living in florida, having 20% tint, and sunshine yearround is a little different than other places in the country, who have cooler weather more often.
I only take the tops off at night, or in the winter months.

My shades are on during the day, it gets too damn hot in my car and I don't like the feeling when I sit on hot leather. It's already bad enough this Tx heat cracked my dash cover. The only time I have the shades off is when the girl(s) are riding shotgun or if it's really cloudy/cool outside. For some odd reason chicks like looking through the top glass, they just don't like when the tops are off because of their hair...
Other then that, shades are always on!

texas=hot. colder months i take them off and in the oven months i leave them on/windshield cover. daily driver in central texas with black leather....gets hotter than a mother! i can actually open my door to get into my car after its been sittin for a bit and look at the ground and see the heat escaping from the faint shadows on the driveway. its like fumes of hot air. it sucks lol

On my Firebird, I left the shades on in the summer. When I bought my TA, the previous owner said he never had seen any shades before. Didn't even know they were supposed to come with any. So i kept the shades, and put them in the TA.

"Can you get a suntan or sunburn through glass?
Yes, but not as quickly as without the glass. While glass absorbs short wavelength ultraviolet light, it does pass 350 to 400 nanometer ultraviolet. While this longer wavelength ultraviolet is less harmful than the shorter wavelength variety, you can still tan or burn if you get enough exposure. Glass is like sunscreen--it protects you pretty well but it isn't perfect."
