Default Ethics on WS6?

Ok, well, after lots of people "is that a WS6?!!?" and me having to explain "No, it just has the hood", they're always disappointed. I will be putting a WS6 airbox under my hood soon. I have exhaust, and suspension work. (pretty much all the WS6 is anyway)

Would it be ethical, to put a WS6 badge on it and just say "Yes", under the Law of F-Bodies? I know everyone will say "well it's not a WS6, why fake it".... but would you do it?

/puts on flamesuit.

I think it's okay,as long as you're not selling it and saying it's a real WS6.It's your car,do what you want.

I would have to call my car a WS7 instead if it wasn't originally a WS6. If you created a true WS7, it has everything a WS6 has except the RPO codes on the driver's inner door and the VIN ID of course.

Heres one for you guys... My '85 TA came with the '84 TA's WS6 suspension package standard. For 3rd gens I think the WS6 rpo code was the "performance suspension" and without the Ram Air coolness of the 96+ WS6s.

Is it ethical to badge mine with a special decal that says "WS6 Suspension Package" rather than the "Performance Package" you commonly see.

What's your opinion guys? I don't want to offend any true WS6 owners, after all, the 1999 30th Anniversary TA was the car that hooked me on F-bodies.

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... **** might as well call it a duck.

My car is a clone ws6, and i find it easier to tell ppl its a ws6 (except ppl i know, but if some random joe walks up and says hey is that a ws6? its just easier to say yep)

I was planning on turning my '79 T/A into a WS6 car. Back then it consisted of 15x8 Snowflake rims, 1.25" Front and Rear Sway Bars, Quick Ratio Steering Box and 4-wheel Disc Brakes. In my opinion I would say do what you want with your car.

IMHO I would never advertise that my car is something that it is not.
I have many people assume that it is a WS6 because of the R/A Hood but I tell them it is not. I also explain that the only reason I have the hood is because I couldn't pass it up at $250.00.
BTW all `93-`02 V8 Firebirds are WS9's

haha! God I hate that...
"ITZ FAZT3R CUS OF THE RAM AIR!!!!!"

On topic, if its some noobie kid I would just tell him yes so you dont have to spend 10 minutes explaining the differences. If its another fbody owner, or someone who is into cars, then tell them its just a clone.
edit: I had a guy at the track ask if my car was a WS6 or not (my badge fell off ) and I told him yeah. Then he tells me that I have a sleeper now since the car has no badge, because the WS6's "have bigger injectors, a better computer chip, and better heads." I just nodded and said "yep".

IMO, if you have properly equipped it to WS6 specs, call it a WS6 unless you are selling it.

Ram Air sounds alot better, easier to say, and actually speaks of performance, especially to a non-gearhead. WS6 could mean anything under the sun to them........but Ram Air, they could at least associate that with performance.

dont you kids forget how "Ram Air" got started either......back in the 60s and early 70s, you had a Ram Air.....Ram Air II, Ram Air III, the famous Ram Air IV, and infamous Ram Air V.

Sorry, I changed my thread response. I meant to say "WS7" instead of "WS9", thanks.

Exactly what I was thinking. I may get the badge, but they're expensive from what I can see.

Eh, do what you like. 99% of John Q. Public is oblivious in what consists of a WS6 package. They see a Hood and a Emblem and they won't know any wiser. They didn't make any WS6s in Maple Red Metallic, but I have an aftermarket WS6 hood and WS6 rims. If people ask if I have a WS6, I'll flat out say "No, it's not a WS6. We could still line them up seeing as I have a BASE Trans Am and all."

Putting a WS6 badge on a car that was not built w/ the WS6 RPO is not only un-ethical, it is "RICER" and could easily (eventually) be construed as fraud. While YOU may claim that you'd never sell it as a "true" WS6, the next guy who buys your car might not, either intentionally or from ignorance. I've lost count of the number of posts here from new folks who thought they purchased a "true WS6" only to find out later that it's a FAKE. Some folks don't really care, but others do, and would be certainly within their rights to be pissed off.

Please explain WHAT a "true WS7" is. Is it something YOU made up? Or some other guy on another board? Because it certainly isn't something created by GM or Pontiac, therefore there is no such thing as a "true WS7" other than in the minds of people making their cars into clones. No doubt, adding a WS7 badge is totally acceptable (still RICER IMO), while adding a WS6 badge is not.
