Default Firebird & Trans Am Auction Prices

These are some pretty nice auction prices from the recent Leake Oklahoma City auction (obtained from the March 27, 2008 issue of Old Cars Weekly):
  1. 1968 Firebird Coupe 6-cylinder, 3-speed, #3 condition $11,250
  2. 1969 Firebird Convertible 350 auto, #2 condition $24,000
  3. 1970 Trans Am Coupe 400 auto, Ram air III, #3 condition $25,000
  4. 1974 Trans Am Coupe SD 455, 250 HP, auto, #1 condition $80,500!!!
  5. 1976 Trans Am Coupe, WS4 455, 4-spd, #3 condition $22,500
  6. 1978 Trans Am T-top 400 auto, 'Bandit' replica, #3 condition $16,300
  7. 1979 Trans Am Coupe 400 4 -spd #2 condition $29,500

Pretty decent money for cars that are all drivers, except the #1 condition car of course. These examples are 30-40 year old cars and some of our LS1 cars are already at the 10 year mark. We still have a serious 'down' time ahead of us for prices but if you love your car and want to hang on to it, there is reason to hope that your own car will bring these types of prices one day, even in unrestored #3 condition. No one can predict the future but with the decent horsepower in our cars, the possible demise or very low production of future V8's, and the high attrition rate as well, I would say our cars are keepers provided they are kept at least in good condition.
